Cacaolat
If you travel to Spain you might learn the hard way that if you ask for un chocolate caliente you get the very thick chocolate meant for dipping churros and not for drinking. If you want chocolate milk you have to ask for a Colacao.
However in Catalunya, they have their own version of chocolate milk (of course), and that is Cacaolat. I’ve never been a big fan of chocolate milk but I...

Last dissabte
My last saturday in Barna was epic. Laberinto de Horta, Xampanyeria, bicing thru Ciutadella, Passeig Sant Joan and into Eixample dreta. A great BBQ with amazing people. And then dinner at Dana’s house. I wanted to go for drinks at night but I got a headache from the sun and a hyper active day.
Thanks to Alejandra, Dana, Mary, and Alice who made it truly amazing.
Pictures are below....

Last divendres
Last friday in BCN: I woke up late, considering my barceloneta picnic carried on till 6 AM and got home by 7AM. Dont know how! Kids, don’t bike and drink.
So Friday I was brain dead. I hosted a mercadillo (flea market) to get rid of the stuff I was not bringing to NYC. Went to Sirvent (c/ parlament) to have apparently the best Horxata in Barcelona. It was REALLY good!
I wanted to keep it...

Last dijous
Last Thursday:
I decided to say goodbye to all the awesome people I met in my master. To do that I planned a picnic @ la Barceloneta beach. Complete with tortilla de patatas, cava, Estrella, y mas.
It ended up being a lovely picnic and one of the most surreal nights in Barcelona. Our night was full of random French, Italian and one Canarian (a bit crazy) visiting our blanket, and then a couple...
Contrabanda: Radio Lluire
Barcelona is the epicenter for those who question the current economic system, mass media and corporate driven information. So it’s no wonder that it has several independent radios that are commercial free, revolutionary and ran by people like you and me that believe in independent media.
While in Barcelona I had the pleasure to work for one of these amazing independent radio shows:...
ADEU Barcelona

BAR-celona
My bar picks in BCN:
La fianna (C/ Banys Vells, 15): with cozy beds and great cocktails.
Bar 13 (c/ de la lleona):still the best mojitos I’ve tried in Barna. Plus you get to listen to Soda Stereo when they are about to close.
Polaroid (c/ Codols 29): 80’s style, with memorabilia from El Chavo del 8, not only do you get nostalgic in this bar but also everyone is super nice.

Bon profit!!! FOOD IN BARCELONA
Bon profit! that is buen provecho/bon appetit in Catalan. Here are some of my favorite restaurants in Barna.
Just remember the key rule: avoid eating on las ramblas and any ridicoulously touristy place, there are excepetions but in geneneral the food will suck and you will be ripped-off.
Xampanyeria o Can Paixano (c/ reina maria cristina 7 -BORN):
Where else can you eat and get drunk with...

FYI: Bathrooms in BCN
There is one thing no one warns you when you come to Spain, and that is the bathroom situation. I wish someone had warned me so now it’s my dutie to warn you: Most bathrooms in Barcelona* do not have toilet paper, specially if they are in the center or a good club such as Apolo, Razz, Sidecar, etc. So always carry tissues with you to avoid a dripping situation. To put the cherry on top,...

Pastissos/ Pastries
Barcelona is not France (y se nota!!), here pastries suck, most leave you with pork fat after taste, and that is because most of them are made with pork fat and not butter. Keep in mind that if you want a Croissant, you need to ask for a butter croissant, otherwise they will give you the one with pork fat and sticky pineaple jelly on top.
However, there is some hope. If you want good pastries in...

Madame Jasmine
Madame Jasmine is one of those perfect places in Barcelona. Its a place with soul and the best sandwiches and salads in Barcelona. Yesterday, me and Dana headed to Madame Jasmine, to have the usual Paral.lel sandwich and vermut “de la casa”.
Madame Jasmine is located on Rambla del Raval, next to the big fat cat by Botero. You can’t miss it.
Bon profit!!!

Que Fer a Barcelona? What to do in Barcelona?
I get plenty of emails from friends asking for recommendations on what to do/see in Barcelona. The list its soo long and its always hard to think about everything. But here are some of the things you should see if you are visiting. The list is divided by neighborhoods or barris (as they will say in catalan).
Montjüic/Plaça Espanya:
La font mágica (Thurs-Sun 7pm-9pm), Museo Nacional de Arte de...
