Cuando vimos el anuncio de bolsos de Loewe que ha provocado tanto revuelo en los medios, sentimos un malestar que difícilmente podía apaciguarse con una parodia. Tuvimos la necesidad de responder con una acción más crítica. En el extremo opuesto al de los jóvenes alegres y despreocupados que nos presenta la marca, hay otros jóvenes en España que malviven del lujo, vendiendo su imitación de forma furtiva.
Hemos buscado a cuatro de esos jóvenes, inmigrantes senegaleses que trabajan en las calles de Barcelona, para ver qué respondían a las mismas preguntas que plantea el anuncio original. He aquí el resultado.
El rodaje duró escasamente una hora porque los chicos tenían que volver al trabajo.
Ninguna de las respuestas está condicionada o manipulada.
Destinamos un presupuesto de 200€, de nuestros bolsillos, a la producción del vídeo, cantidad que recibieron íntegramente los cuatro chicos por su colaboración.

Algunos antisistema intentan desviar mediaticamente la atención a traves de internet hacia otras cuestiones baladíes como las de los heridos leves provocados por los Mossos: alguien puede perder un ojo, a alguien le han destrozado el bazo a patadas y miles de manifestantes pacíficos fueron tiroteados durante cuatro horas y finalmente gaseados. Por favor, no se deje engañar por esta propaganda. Contra la violencia tolerancia cero. No sea antisistema. Es el momento de la Solidaridad con Barcelona. Organizaremos una maratón benéfica y apliquemos la ley anterrorista. Esperamos vuestro apoyo. Os necesitamos más que nunca. Apadrine un contenedor.

Per fi!!!! One of my favorite songs from Els Catarres M’en vaig al camp has a video. The song describes the Barcelona of the modernos (hipsters) a great theme park full of “botigues de roba vintage, bars per guiris, festivals” (vintage clothing stores, bars for foreigners, and music festivals).

The story centers on a modernillo from Barcelona who simply gets tired of this “theme park” and decides to head to the countryside. 

The video has so many beautiful shots of Barcelona that after watching it I feel like saying “m’en vaig a Barcelona” rather than “m’en vaig al camp”.

“Jo que sento devocio pel romesco i els calcots”

Yes! I think Calçotadas is hands down my favorite catalan tradition. Its fun, dirty, outdoorsy and popular. 

You can have calçots in a restaurant, but the tradition is to go to the calçotadas populars which are outside the city, in the pobles, where you can rent tables and space to grill your calçots and of course plenty of butifarra and meat.

You have to learn with a true Catalan how to eat calçots, yes they do have their trick. You have to hold them firmly from the top, pull the burned bottom with your hands, and finally dip it in some yummy romesco sauce.

Here are some pictures of some calçotadas I enjoyed while in Catalunya, one outside Barcelona, and one in the heart of Gràcia .

Can Portell

Calçotades urbanes (Urban Calçotadas)
